Abstract

The aim of the current study was to sight the presence of Equine animal virus one (EHV-1), Equine animal virus four (EHV-4), and Equine rubor Virus (EAV) antibodies in domestic horses in Kyrgyz Republic. during this study, 116 serum samples of susceptible domestic horses were collected between Gregorian calendar month 2012 to Feb 2013, and tested for equine animal virus (EHV-1, EHV-4) and EAV specific antibodies by commercially out there indirect accelerator connected Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). EHV-1, EHV-4, and EAV specific antibodies were detected as eighty one.89% (95/116), 96.55% (112/116), and 20.68% (24/116) of tested humour samples were found positive for EHV-1, EHV-4, and EAV antibodies, severally. ninety five horses (81.89%) were positive for EHV-1 and EHV-4. twenty horses (17.24%) were detected seropositive EHV-1 and EAV whereas twenty two horses (18.96%) were seropositive for EHV-4 and EAV. In conclusion, EHV-1, EHV-4 and EAV infections seem to be widespread in domestic horses in Kyrgyz Republic and should also function a risk issue for different species.

SEASONAL CHANGES ON REPRODUCTIVE PARAMETERS IN ALGERIAN REMBI RAMS

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of season on three main parameters of sexual activity in Rembi rams in Algeria during 12 months period. The experiment involved a monthly measurement of plasma testosterone (T) level, scrotal circumference (S.C) and body weight (B.W) in ten adult rams, aged between 2 and 6 years and raised under semi-extensive system, in permanent contact with the ewes. The data collected showed a significant effect of season on the parameters studied. The seasonal variations have showed higher values during spring and autumn with a maximum in April for the testosterone levels (3,45±0,14 ng/ml), in November for the scrotal circumference (34,7±2,00 cm) and the body weight (82,3±1,28 Kg). The lower values were recorded during periods of very high temperatures in summer, during food restriction periods and poor grazing in winter, with an annual minimum in June for the testosterone levels with 0,47±0,02 ng/ml and in July for the scrotal circumference (31,58 cm) and the body weight 80,93±1,20 Kg.

COMPARISON OF ETHANOLIC EXTRACT YIELD, pH, POLYPHENOLS AND FLAVONOIDS IN ALGERIAN PROPOLIS COLLECTED FROM VARIOUS GEOGRAPHIC REGIONS

Abstract

The present work aims to evaluate the yield, pH, the total polyphenols and flavonoids contents in propolis collected from different ecosystems in Algeria. Ten samples of propolis, issued from different floral and geographical origins, have been collected by beekeepers between March and April 2015 and were classified according to the geographical regions (Est, West, Center and South) the samples were labeled from P1 to P10 and kept in dark at 4°C until use. The determination of polyphenols and total flavonoids contents was carried out in a specialized laboratory in Belgium. In this study, the propolis collected from the southern and western regions had the highest concentrations of polyphenols 99,98; 71,6 and 76,1 Gallic acid/g of propolis. The same result was obtained for flavonoids with 54,4; 38,7 and 42,9 mg Quercetin/g propolis. The higher yield, after ethanolic extraction of the propolis, was obtained from the southern region sample (P10) with a rate of 39,32%. Our study showed that the richest propolis samples of Algeria, in total flavonoid and total polyphenol contents  were the ones collected from the southern (P10) and the western region (P6 and P8).

LONGEVITY AND CATALASE ACTIVITY IN TWO BRUCHID SPECIES

Abstract

Of the two species, Caryedon serratus and Callosobruchus maculatus, the formar had higher median and maximum life spans. The males were characterized by high life expectancy and low age independent susceptibility to deaths although the ageing rate was high only in the males of C. maculatus. At all ges, the catalase level was higher in both the seses of C. serratus than in C. maculatus. in the males of C. maculatus of C. serratus than in C. maculatus. The former had higher by high life expectancy eing rate was high only. At all ages, the catalase level was higher in both the Sexes.
