LONGEVITY AND CATALASE ACTIVITY IN TWO BRUCHID SPECIES

Abstract

Of the two species, Caryedon serratus and Callosobruchus maculatus, the formar had higher median and maximum life spans. The males were characterized by high life expectancy and low age independent susceptibility to deaths although the ageing rate was high only in the males of C. maculatus. At all ges, the catalase level was higher in both the seses of C. serratus than in C. maculatus. in the males of C. maculatus of C. serratus than in C. maculatus. The former had higher by high life expectancy eing rate was high only. At all ages, the catalase level was higher in both the Sexes.

QUANTITATIVE CHANGES IN THE TRIGLYCERIDE CONTENT OF POST EMBRYONIC STAGES OF EPILACHNA VIGINTIOCTOPUNCTATA (FABR. : COLEOPTERAN : COCCINELLIDAE)

Abstract

The triglyceride content showing fluctuations in the first three larval instars under goes significant continuous rise in the three phases of fourth larval instar larva and prepupa. There occurs a decline during metamorphosis. However the amount increases in 0 hr adult stage.

ANTIFUNGAL ACTIVITY OF THERMOPHILIC FUNGUS MALBRANCHEA PULCHELLA VAR. SULFUREA

Abstract

The antifungal activity of six isolates of Malbranchea pulchella var. sulfurea was assayed against four different test organisms viz. Acremonium alabamensis, Humicola lanuginosa, Thermoascus sp. and Thermomucor indicae-seudaticae in agar medium, Among six isolates of Malbranchea, APMO6 was found to give better yield of anti-fungal component .The effect of different factors on the production of anti-fungal component is discussed.

SECRETION OF PECTIC ENZYMES BY ALTERNARIA SOLANI AND ALTERNARIA TRITICINA

Abstract

The present study deals with the effect of monosaccharide (Glucose) and polysaccharide (Starch) on the production of pectic enzymes (endo-PGTE, endo-PMTE, endo-PG. endo-PMG and PME) in the inoculum of Altarnaria solani on tomato and Altarnaria triticina on wheat in modified Richard's culture medium. Secretion of pectic enzymes as stimulated with monosaccharide by both pathogens but in case of polysaccharide the secretion of pectic enzymes was repressed by both pathogens under similar conditions. The stimulation and repression of pectic enzymes by Alternaria solani and Alternaria triticina depend not only on the nature of pathogen and the host but on the structure of carbo-hydrates.

IDENTIFICATION OF PROTEIN MARKERS LINKED TO DROUGHT TOLERANCE IN NEW IRANIAN RICE GERMPLASM

Abstract

As with other crops, loss of enough water resources especially during low falling periods is one of the main problems in rice cultivation and production in most regions of Asia. Identification of protein markers linked to drought tolerance can facilitate rice breeding process for developing new elite drought tolerant varieties. In proteome analysis of studied rice germplasm, protein was extracted from leaves of the rice plants under natural growth condition by Damerval method. Concentration of the protein samples was measured by Bradford method. Then, Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis technique was used to identify protein markers linked to drought tolerance in studied rice germplasm. Protein spots available in gel profiles of studied samples were analyzed and compared together in Melanie software. Overall, molecular data analysis of protein spots available in 2D gel profiles indicated that 20 reproducible protein spots were linked to drought tolerance in the new Iranian drought tolerant genotype.

Neutron Diffraction Study of Microstructure of Nanocrystalline Cubic Niobium Carbides from NbC0.77 to NbC0.96

Abstract

The microstructure of nanocrystalline nonstoichiometric niobium carbides NbC0.77, NbC0.84, NbC0.96 powders produced by high-energy ball milling has been investigated by time-of-flight (TOF) high resolution neutron diffraction. The diffraction patterns have been collected with the high resolution Fourier diffractometer HRFD by using the TOF mode of data acquisition. The nanocrystalline ball-milled powders have a microinhomogeneous structure, in which two fractions with different particle size and composition can be identified. The average sizes of the coherent scattering regions and microstrains in nanocrystallites with allowance for the anisotropy of the deformation distortions have been estimated. It is shown that TOF neutron diffraction patterns can provide the very accurate data for microstructure analysis of nanocrystalline powders.

The Importance of Visual Management as a Motivator of Human Capital and Optimization of the Results of the Productive System

Abstract

This paper presents new achievements in people management that allow for the increase of competitive edge of organizations. It also points out the importance of the implementation of new production methods such as process automation or agility and shows the need of employees’ participation and their value within the organization, demonstrating the fundamental importance of people for business growth and development. By this article the management of human resources is highlighted and the resulting optimization of the production system through the visual management and its quality tools is shown. In this sense, a conceptual approach to talent guidance based on management and productive control was used in this article. Modern corporations pursue results through production management system improvements, automation of production lines and advancement of technological skills. The development of production techniques such as Just-in-Time and Kanban supports decision making, facilitates process management and benefits human assets. Retaining of brains has become the prime issue for the success of corporations. These profound changes have given rise to a new society, the knowledge society. It is demonstrated that human capital in organizations has the individual as the main character and generator of knowledge, being a differential in the establishment of indicators and in obtaining results to achieve new goals and the success of the organization. Recent studies have shown relevant results in relation to the influence of the companies favorable organizational climate on the motivation of its employees and in interviews conducted in these studies, the percentages are observed above 73%. The study of the strategies used by the companies shows as results the valorization of the talent as competitive differential and stimulator of the process of innovation of the team and of the project management, besides having a strategic vision of the business in which the organization is inserted.
